Anne Ngoc Søe
Anne Ngoc Søe is recognized as one of Denmark’s most accomplished and dedicated musicians in contemporary music. She began playing the violin at the age of four with the Suzuki method. At a young age, she won the Gold Medal at the Berlingske Music Competition for her performance of Paganini’s violin concerto. Anne studied with Prof. Milan Vitek and Marta Libalova in Denmark and continued her studies with the legendary violinist Ruggiero Ricci at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Anne Ngoc Søe has a diverse repertoire as a soloist with and has played in the Sjaellands String quartet for a number of years, with whom she recorded multiple CDs. In recent years, she has premiered several notable violin concertos, including Morten Olsen’s ”The Heart of Darkness” in 2019, and Tyler Futrell’s ”Fresh Air” in 2020, both with the Athelas Sinfonietta. In 2020, her rendition of Karl Aage Rasmussen’s violin concerto ”Sinking Through the Dream Mirror” was released on the critically acclaimed album ”Alone & Together” by Dacapo Records.
She is a member of the Copenhagen Phil, serves as the concertmaster of the Athelas Sinfonietta, Copenhagen, and was for many years teaching at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. With her husband, Stéphane Tran Ngoc, she enjoys discovering the duet repertoire. The 34 Berio duets have been on Duo Ngoc’s list for several years, and the public’s enthusiastic response has inspired the Duo to make this very recording.
