Tomoo Nagai

Born in Shizuoka, Japan, in 1975, Tomoo Nagai holds a PhD from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He is highly active in the fields of jazz, improvisation, and contemporary music, performing both as a solo percussionist and in various cross-genre projects.

Nagai has developed numerous projects across Europe and is currently working on several cultural exchange initiatives between Japan and Lithuania. From 2022 to 2032, he is also dedicated to his “Kinon” project—a mission to create a collection of musical instruments crafted entirely from materials found in Hachioji. Additionally, he composes for film, television, radio, and theater, and works as a sound designer for public spaces and facilities
