About the release
On April 24, 2026, the Danish band Waterfahl released their new album Vandkantet—a collection of songs where Nordic songwriting meets dusty roots music and coastal melancholy.
A defining feature of Vandkantet is the love for the handmade and authentic. The music was captured as live studio recordings to preserve a spontaneous energy and raw nerve with an intimate, organic and lyrically driven album as a result.
The album serves as a musical mosaic, weaving Waterfahl’s original compositions with the words and melodies of a range of poets and musicians—from the legendary Emily Dickinson to Danish voices Johs Thorst, Bente Holt, Jørgen Iversen, Benny F. Andersen and Knud Lykou.
Under the guidance of producer Janus Bechmann, the album has found its signature dry and dustysound, and it is mastered by Emil Thomsen.
About the artist
Based in Aarhus, Denmark, and previously active in the Oxford music scene, UK, Waterfahl features Hanne Thirup Fahl on vocals and harmonica and Finn Fahl on guitar. Their sound merges dusty roots music with a strong Danish songwriting tradition, blending melancholic blues, intimate folk, and organic pop to create a handmade, soulful experience. Waterfahl is celebrated for poetic storytelling and performances characterised by charm, presence, and lyrical depth.
