About the release
Mild was released in 2022 for the first time. Back then it was released for streaming devices only. Since then songs from the album have been played on various radio stations both national and international, Jesper Hertz has won the prize “Jazz Musician Of The Year on Funen 2025” (like both the quartet’s saxophonist, Andreas Bøttiger and drummer, Anders Senderovitz, has won in previous years) - and now it is available on CD as well.
The music is based on strong melodic lines that invites the listener into a universe of story telling in sound. The music is nordic but with strong roots in the American Jazz tradition, and it is characterized by the joy of simply playing together as a band.
About the artist
Jesper Hertz is a Danish jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader. His music has a strong melodic line and dreaming Nordic character, and it leaves space to add all kinds of colors to it. Jesper Hertz has released 5 albums as a leader (including the new album, Shizuka), and has achieved a lot of air play on the national Danish jazz radio station, and in other European countries. Jesper Hertz has played all over Denmark and toured internationally – fx two times in Japan, where the Shizuka album has been recorded in November 2023 at the Freedom Studio Infinity, Tokyo after the latest tour with double bassist Minoru Yoshiki, saxophonist Shuji Morita and drummer Naoki Takahashi.
Jesper Hertz is very active as both composer and musician. He plays in widely varied contexts, from acoustic jazz to collaboration with pop and rock artist and performing in electronic/acoustic bands.
