Bushbabies

This new trio consisting of Niclas Knudsen, Jonathan Bremer and Felix Ewert mixes elements from afrobeat, cumbia and highlife with melodies that draw inspiration from the musicians' Nordic background, where reminiscences of folk songs, anthems and ballads can be heard. With playful ease and deadly seriousness, they create rhythms and sounds that are both earthy and clear, but also energetic and danceable.

The music was written by Niclas Knudsen on a trip to Zanzibar, where the encounter with the warmth, nature and not least the people, inspired him to write new music that conveys the beauty, openness and not least the presence he experienced.

Niclas Knudsen is known for having searched for new ways to play improvised music for several decades in bands such as Ibrahim Electric and Kalaha and works in this trio with a more meditative and calm expression. Jonathan Bremer has renewed Nordic jazz with the duo Bremer/McCoy and adds his clear and strong bass playing to this trio. Felix Ewert is known from Tabloid and Alex Vargas and with his virtuoso drumming ensures that the music is always lively and vibrant.
