Om udgivelsen
A double album with 24 pieces. The French composer Louis Vierne was born 150 years ago and is celebrated here with a Danish first recording of “24 Pièces de Fantaisie”. Vierne was organist in Notre Dame, Paris, from the year 1900 until, on June 2, 1937, he died on the organ bench during his concert no. 1750. The 24 pieces all have different titles, where Vierne refers to nature and man, human emotions and actions; and his fascination with cathedral architecture. Vierne was at the peak of his compositional work when he composed the four suites.
Daniel Bruun is organist in Helleruplund Church alongside a career as a concert organist. With several critically acclaimed CDs, he has distinguished himself internationally and has given concerts all over Europe as well as Colombia. His repertoire is wide-ranging, but with a special focus on 19th- and 20th-century music.
